The New Patient Experience at Ward Family Dentistry
At Ward Family Dentistry, we believe that exceptional dental care starts with truly understanding our patients. That’s why we take a listen, look, and understand approach before recommending any treatment. Our New Patient Experience (NPE) is designed to be the most comprehensive and thorough exam you’ve ever had—because your oral health is about more than just your teeth.
A Comprehensive, Three-Part Exam
Your first visit to our Lewisville dental office includes a detailed three-part examination that goes beyond a traditional checkup:
- Head and Neck Evaluation – We assess overall health concerns, including jaw function and signs of TMJ issues.
- Periodontal Exam – We carefully examine the gums for signs of disease, recession, or inflammation.
- Tooth-by-Tooth Exam – We evaluate each tooth’s condition, occlusion (bite), and potential concerns like sleep apnea. We also perform perioral screenings for early detection of skin cancer.
We take the time to explain everything we see using the Tell, Show, Do technique. Our extensive use of intraoral cameras allows you to see what we see—before, during, and after any procedure—so you’re fully informed about your dental health.
Cutting-Edge Technology for Better Diagnosis and Treatment
Dr. Ward has incorporated the latest advancements in dental technology to ensure precise diagnosis and comfortable treatment:
- Romexis CBCT 3D Imaging – Provides highly detailed scans for a more accurate diagnosis.
- Fotona Laser – Allows us to perform anesthetic-free fillings, making your experience more comfortable.
- BioHorizons Implants – A trusted, high-quality option for long-term tooth replacement.
A Holistic Approach to Your Health
We recognize the connection between oral health and overall well-being. That’s why our new patient exam includes a complementary medication evaluation by a licensed pharmacist, ensuring that your current medications are not negatively impacting your oral health.
Patients often tell us that this is "the most thorough medical exam" they’ve ever had—and that’s exactly our goal. At Ward Family Dentistry, we’re committed to providing care that is detailed, personalized, and centered around your long-term health.
Bring your smile, but also remember to bring these with you to your first appointment:
- Your completed patient information form
- Your insurance card
Regular checkups are an important part of maintaining a healthy smile!
The American Dental Association recommends visiting your dentist every six months for regular checkups and routine teeth cleanings to keep your teeth and gums healthy.
We understand that you have a busy schedule, so when you're preparing to visit the dentist, please remember that your appointments can last between 45 and 90 minutes.
